Re: gsp info needed

yeah you could setup a tank to breed snails, it's really easy, i started my snail tank couple weeks ago with some Ramshorn snails. i just have like a 1 or 2 gal tank with an airstone in it and throw in some zucchini for them, and they have been doing great.

Re: GSP has become shy

i've noticed the same with my GSP. i get such a defferent personality when he's alone vs. when it has tankmates. i initially had it in a tank with 2 other GSPs, but was able to give 2 of them to friends who wanted them and after i gave the 2 away the GSP i kept didn't like coming up to the glass and...

good thinking! but it would have to be really small pipe! not to mention the odds of it puffing up, especially in a hiding area, are very slim.

Re: New Puffer!!!

looks adorable!! they are quite the curious puffers so you'll want to keep their tank very intricate with a lot of breaking line of sight. Very cute indeed. i don't know if anyone else has had this, but i had a lot of stuff in my tank for my puffer and he always seemed to surf the glass, and would ...

Re: water flow for my gsp?

from what i've seen, they don't really like the current. they don't seem to be a current friendly fish with the way their fins are and that they use them to propell around, a lot of moving water just seems to push them around more than anything.

Re: high end brackish water needs

yeah we'll see. going on about 3 or 4 months for the puffer and about a month now for the clownfish, and they both seem content. so we'll see how it goes!

Re: high end brackish water needs

so i have my protein skimmer hooked up and running. i do not have any LR yet though, should i still run my HOB filter until i get some? the protein skimmer isn't disturbing the water too much either, so should i put my power head in? the protein skimmer is an Aquaticlife mini skimmer for 30 gal tank.

Re: changing from gravel to sand

yeah i just changed out a little more gravel this morning. the net technique worked great as well as the soda bottle technique and it worked flawlessly, thanks kcartwright856! what cloudiness there is is very minimal and will be cleared up in 15 or 20 min. i went fish in and it doesn't seem to be bo...

Re: high end brackish water needs

well if LR and a protien skimmer is all i need that would save me from having to frequent 50% wc, than that sounds like a reasonable thing i could do, i was thinking it was more complicated than that. is there anything special i need to know about a protien skimmer when i go to get one? how about LR...

Re: high end brackish water needs

thanks for the replies! i checked my salinity and it's 1.020 sg which is where i want it. going off of what was said about Nitrates, i checked them and sure enough Nitrates were elevated, although not too severe and Ammonia was really low almost 0. My issue is that i don't want to have to get into a...

Re: high end brackish water needs

so it's really easier to just add some live rock and install a protein skimmer, rather than keep it the way it is and constantly have to worry about Nitrates?
