huh? tank was fishless cycled 6 months ago.

it doesn't help when I'm using my phone to take the picture and the tank has scratches that throw off the focus, lol

I do blame myself a little bit. I saw the nipped fin and just figured it would go away like so many other injuries of that nature do, but I guess with the shipping and the new home, the stress got the upper hand and I didn't react soon enough.

pond snails and ramshorns are the best and easiest to breed. trumpet snails and nerites may have shells that are too tough for the puffers to break when they are larger.

sorry to say that the little guy didn't pull through.

I have a few more days to treat the tank with pimafix (just to make sure that fungus isn't anywhere else and to be safe) and then I'll begin treating the other puffers for IPs (though they remain unaffected).

it has to just be the pic, I don't think he looks anything like a ceylon, personally. I'll take another one to compare to when I get home. I've kept dwarf puffers on and off for over 15 years and he doesn't look any different than others that I've kept. wrinkly eye, dark line, a little blue spot... ...

Thanks for the welcome everyone! I never saw a striped DP before. Are you sure about the species? I'm fairly certain. it was from petsmart. besides a travancoricus, what could he be? update: he's still very listless and often hangs out at the bottom of the tank or in a plant to stabilize himself between swims. his tail fin is no longer clamped as much and he fans it out on occasion, but it seems more rigid than it should be. he's also getting really skinny since he's stopped eat...

I'd also treat for IPs right away & start ich treatment. They are going though some stress & highly likely to get the parasite, next. Heat/salt method but lots more WC (80% every other day). Your plants may not like the salt. something to consider, but salt is pretty much out of the questio...
