Re: New to the forum- need help desperately

No need to dechlorinate overnight or fer even 5 minutes. For 30 years, I have added dechlor directly to the tank, before refilling. You just need to add enough for the entire water volume of the tank, not just for the water you are adding. While this has worked for you( and probably many others, in...

Re: just a few questions on dwarf puffers

Hey Welcome to the forum. This is a great read about fishless cycling http://www.thepufferforum.com/forum/library/water-filtration/fishless-cycling/ Im not sure about the cories. As for a filter i would go with an aquaclear20\30 they are effective and not to badly priced. A ten gallon would be fine....

Re: Dwarf Puffer

The best way to dose ip's is by the food. Gets right to the source. Praziquantel based meds are good for flatworms, Levamisole drugs are good for round worms, and Metronidazole is good for hexamita. Jungle makes a food combo drug that is usually very effective, but im not sure dwarfs would eat it. A...

Re: What's causing the heat?

depends. Most of my lights are DIY so on some i can fit cpu type fans like yourself. Others are on shelves with lighting built into the shelving undersides, there i use those little clip on fans. other times ive setup those window fans over the tanks. It just depends o the situation. I dont have to ...

Re: Looking for 10g tank ideas

Im thinking a micro tank. A scarlet badis(Dario dario)or two. possibly some Cherry shrimps, a couple mini moth catfish (Hara Jerdoni) will lurk most of the time very cool looking. a small school of micro rasboras. Not a predator but a very cool Locality tank(almost) wasp fish are cool, but you could...

Re: New to the forum- need help desperately

Dr Tims worked well for me. The other option is to get used filter media from your fish store- assuming you trust it to be disease-free- and at the same salinity. It seems to work well for some and not so much for others. I do remember reading something by Dr Tim( i guess that's his name) about peo...

Re: New to the forum- need help desperately

sorry it was a formatting issue. i see what you wrote now. Generally when someone writes .021( full marine) the # 1.021 is understood, if below 1 writing 0.25 is best. ( or you will have a bunch of people scratching their heads  ) a side note hydrometers are not super accurate, and i wouldn't e...
