Re: Plz Help
Found him dead today either from not eating or nitrates not sure. I am frustrated because I did all I knew. As for treating water for a drip system you run it through a chloramine filter, no way to filter nitrates but the drip was on my community tank so 40ppm for cichlids not as bad. Sorry if I was...
Re: Plz Help
I switched the pump it was to strong found him stuck twice more. I will move him to the 55g tomorrow and move the filter so not to worry about the cycle. I gave him a big snail from petsmart as well as omega krill not even a nibble. This nitrate will be a problem even when I had a 24x7 drip I couldn...
Re: Plz Help
I never use flake food. I think he gets stuck to the filter while sleeping. 20 gallons is to small for an adult not for this juvi given the good water parms filtration is good. Now nitrates my tap is 20ppm keeping it below 40ppm takes a alot so are we saying it will be impossible to keep him. And wh...

Re: Converting from fw to bw
My problem is I went and got the salt mix and a power head to use to mix, I couldn't find a hydrometer that will read in 0.002 steps they all started at 0.018 so I am not sure how to go about mixing that correctly.

Also moving this to the hospital tank for better viewing.... 1) Your water parameters - pH, Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrates and salinity (if appropriate). This is by far the most important information yo...
Plz Help
So I bought Instant Ocean Salt mix, went to by a hydrometer but none of the meters go any where close to low enough to measure 0.002SG the lowest any of them went was 0.018 which is the end target for my GSP. I don't know what to do and he needs to move quick I think the fresh water is killing him. ...

Re: Converting from fw to bw
There does seem to be some confusion, some say high end Brackish for life some say only til they hit 4" then full marine. I guess though at .002 per week I have a while to figure it out. I ordered the salt online because local stores act like they personally created the salt mix and sell it lik...

Re: Converting from fw to bw
SW is 1.021 and up maxing at around 1.027 You best way is to slowly raise the SG .002 a week till it is SW then remove your FW filters add LR and powerheads. If you pull everything out, add sw and LR you will have to wait till it cycles before you can add your puffer. Could die in that time frame s...

Converting from fw to bw
I have a 2" GSP that was kept in fresh, he is in fresh now also. I am ready to convert him to brackish, his tank is being filtered with a diy filter using lava rocks right now. I have three questions. 1: Should I raise the SG 0.02 per week until I get to 1.08? and keep using my same diy filter?...
