Re: Is my Puffer sick?
Personally I think you are a little overstocked. What are the exact parameters? How often do you change water and what quantities? Lastly how long has your tank been set up? I wouldn't agree with that at all. Regardless of what my set up is, I was wanting to know if anyone has heard of this happeni...

Is my Puffer sick?
I've had a female dwarf puffer for over six months, and usually she's a vibrant green colour. Recently I've been seeing her looking really pale in colour almost white.
She's been a pale white before but the colour returned. Is this sickness related or normal?

No it hasn't, that will be my first priority!JRC3 wrote:I'm sure it's fine. There's only a few parts that would go bad and they are pretty inexpensive.
If it is flowing slow then it may need to be cleaned. Has it been cleaned since you set it up 5 months ago?

Have I damaged my filter?
I've had a Fluval external 206 filter for around 5 months. The instructions did not give details of what to do when carrying out a water change so when doing weekly water changes I've been lifting the aquastop valve all the way to the top whilst still running so that the outake doesn't squirt water ...

Are these Puffer eggs?
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v94/tyler1983/eggs.jpg After cleaning out the tank i noticed this and initially thought it was a snail, but on closer inspection it looks like a blob of jelly containing black dots. So are these likely to be my Dwarf Puffers eggs or maybe my Bumble Bee Gobbies? Tha...

Re: My New Aquascaped Puffer Tank
lol a setup contest already? Well PD, i think we got a lighting problem, those plants need theoretically 1 watt per liter, but i prefer lumen per liter. I guess your lamps are 60 cm (24" or 30" ); 20 W... doesn't it? so, they produce... POWER-GLO: 1400 lumens, aprox , AQUA-GLO 500 lumens,...

Re: My New Aquascaped Puffer Tank
I don't have the exact measurements to hand but it's 125 litres in volume.RVS wrote:How big is your tank? also how tall is it... Powerglo and Aquaglo are quite good lighting... those plants need from 40 to 50 lumen per liter to grow dense.
Im not sure about the exact reason..

Re: My New Aquascaped Puffer Tank
Those 2 "brushy" plants are limnophila sessiliflora & cabomba caroliniana. if the plant don't grow or stays dense, you have good light. if the plant gows vey tall and the leaves are separated, they need more light to grow dense... ¿what lights are you using? how many lumen or watt? I'...

Re: My New Aquascaped Puffer Tank
I've got a problem. Only after a few days of posting the picture the two brushy plants in the back have shot up almost to the top of the water. I guess my CO2 and fertilizer are responsible, but as they've gotten longer the leaves look sparce and not nearly as attractive as in the picture above.
