Great thanks for the info, one other thing seems to be happening. One of my puffers has developed what looks like a white, hazy film over the skin??? Any idea on what it is and how to treat it?

Thanks for all the help and sorry for a late replies, I have been busy trying to keep up with life and the puffers, lol. I am reading it now thank you. So I read it and I am a little confused. The tank is suppose to cycle, building up bacteria in the tank that helps keep the levels down of the bad things. They say it takes up to two months to properly establish a tank, do I change the filter media once a month like it...

So if I am doing water changes and not adding the bacteria, then am I not losing those bacteria and not replacing them lowering the bacteria in the tank?

I am glad I found you guys as well. I am using Nutrafin Cycle bacteria. Yes I have a full test kit, have been checking levels daily since they were put in the new tanks.

The first tank, a 30gal has been up for two weeks, with normal fish. Declorinated the water, added conditioner, adding the bacteria per what the bottle said, and did a 50% water change two days ago to lower the levels to match what the puffers where in for a easy transition. The second tank, a 38gal...
