RIP Hootie

Well...Hootie (my GSP) has died. I struggled with him since the first day that I bought him. He was shipped to the lps the day that I bought him...too much stress. With the help of this website I have since learned the correct way to take care of a GSP and will attempt to obtain another one after I ...

GSP With White String Stuff Coming From His Anus (YUK)

The Maracyn and Melafix are for the body fungus that I have been battling since the day that I brought him home (see my other topic post). Pufferpunk suggested that I treat the tank with both of them.

Can the stringy stuff be diarrhea?? My lps told me that this it what it could be.

What to treat with?

I read the post that you provided but I still have not idea what to treat my GSP with? I am already treating him with Maracyn and Melafix.

What kind of parasite is this?? It sis not look like a worm to me and when I tried to scoop it up with a net it fell to pieces.

Thanks.

GSP With White String Stuff Coming From His Anus (YUK)

Okay...okay...what is this?? I was changing my GSPs water today and noticed that he was pooping some long white stringy thing. It did not look like a worm, I tried to scoop it up with the net but it just fell apart. Does anyone know what this is? He has been sick (See my previous post) and I have be...

Feeding My GSP (Hootie)

Hello all. I have now owned Hootie (1-1/2") for exactly 1 week and am a little confused on what and how much to feed him. I am currently feeding Hootie 1/2 of a blister pack of frozen blood worms/day and maybe a small snail a day or every other day. I have read Pufferpunk's article in the libra...

Thank you Pufferpunk. You will notice that I sent you a message while you were sending this one off. You state that you never use carbon in your tanks. Is this just while treating or even when not treating? And (I asked you this in my message to you) will doing a 50% water change daily lower the amo...

I will have to look into getting a hydrometer. I was treating with Melafix but saw no change what so ever. I started using Maracyn yesterday and already I can see part of his eye so I think that he his getting better. My only concern is that the tank is now getting cloudy due to not having the carbo...

Thank you all for your responses, I desperately need them. :!: Raphael - to answer your question, no I do not have a hydrometer. I figured I could just maintain a consist ant amount of salt with each water change. But after reading Pufferpunk's response I am not sure how I am going to go about slowl...

Okay...since I have been using aquarium salt how do I safely switch to marine? Do I just add the appropriate amounts of the marine salt instead of the aquarium salt on my future water changes? Also, I noticed that it is suggested that you use 1 cup of marine salt per 5 gal. of water. This is a lot m...

HELP! Greenspotted Puffer with cottony fungus on eye!

Okay...let me start from the beginning and I promise I will try not to make this too long. Last Saturday I purchased a gsp (Hootie). Prior to purchasing Hootie I cycled my tank for 7 days with a cycling agent and 4 zebra tetras. I also used aquarium salt to create a brackish water condition (2 tbsp ...
