Re: Mappa Puffer - looking for advice on burping?
My husband stopped by and took this video of the puffer yesterday. Before the fish was only able to be face down. The puffer still has a bubble on the right side but it's able to swim much better and navigates well enough to get food. http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n199/lclose5/th_IMG_0119_zpseb...

Re: Mappa Puffer - looking for advice on burping?
There were two working on the puffer and all hands were needed to do this. They said they can provide me more description/details but where unable to film the proceedure. I am really impressed on how much effort they (the locl fish store) put in to help there fish. When I get more details I will sha...

Re: Mappa Puffer - looking for advice on burping?
sorry for the delay but GOOD NEWS!!.... They were successful with expelling the air with a syringe AND after, the puffer ate a bit of food for them. From my understanding they put in some medication to help prevent a secondary infection and are keeping an eye on the fish. Hopefully things will conti...

Re: Mappa Puffer - looking for advice on burping?
It's late but I wanted to try to make a post. Sorry in advance if it's choppy or confusing. The fish hasn't eaten for 3 weeks ago and is housed at a lfs with excellent staff. I brought up some of my clowns that would be canidates to be culled to try to entice the puffer to eat. The puffer shows inte...

Re: Mappa Puffer - looking for advice on burping?
The puffer is still alive but we were unable to massage/shake the trapped air out. (we filmed our last attempt but the video is 18 mins long and I'm not sure how to edit it down yet). The only relief we were able to give the puffer was that it took a big poop during the shaking. Since massaging has ...

Re: Mappa Puffer - looking for advice on burping?
You need to hold the puffer face UP! It won't release the air thru it's butt, only it's mouth. oops! my bad. yes, the previous attempt to rid the air were done face up . Also, a staff member wanted me to mention that there were no nets were used when placing the puffer in the tank. Another attempt ...

Re: Mappa Puffer - looking for advice on burping?
In the past few days they tried holding the puffer face down in the water and massaged him.(EDIT: The fish was held FACE UP) He inflates each time while they are doing this. They said it's also very had to keep hold of the puffer. I chatted with Jeni on FB for a bit and she suggested shaking the puf...

Mappa Puffer - looking for advice on burping?
I am clownfish breeder and I'm looking for advice to help a 8-9" mappa puffer that I saw while I was making a delivery. I'm attaching a photo to show it's position, which is nose down/tail up. The staff asked for help with this fish. They have been attempting to 'burp' the puffer but the they s...

Re: What is on this puffer?
Jeni, Thanks for all the advice and support on this Puffer. Puffer is eating great and showing signs of improvement. The tumors on the body are starting to shrivel up next to the skin and look like they might fall off at some point. I keep you posted on if they do fall off or sort of reabsorb. http:...

What is on this puffer?
I have been keeping reef tanks for approx. 5 years and currently breeding clownfish. I understand the need for more information to help diagnose the problem but I don't know any particulars about this fish. I picked up a Porcupine puffer at a lfs where we sell our clownfish. He was brought in by his...
