Re: Should i get my GSP another GSP buddy?

I have super terrible interpersonal skills, so my animals are my family, my little buddies, I want the very best for them as much as I am able to provide. Balki is 2.5" in a 29 gallon while we set up a custom built tank for him (it needed resealing and some tlc) it's 40" X 20" X 16&q...

Re: Should i get my GSP another GSP buddy?

im not sure what berlin method is, but im pretty sure the only way to achieve and keep 0 nitrates is either veggie filters, heavy water changes, or light fish stock and no over feeding. of course planted tanks keep that down also. but were talking FOWLR, thats a lot tougher to keep 0 nitrates, espe...

Re: Should i get my GSP another GSP buddy?

in order to keep pristine water conditions for a GSP in any small tank, you would have to do many water changes a week. the puffer in that video is far from thriving. look how scratched up he is, he barely shows his green and i think he looks a little uncoordinated while swimming around. he probabl...

Re: Should i get my GSP another GSP buddy?

The 30G rule isn't only for adult GSP's, their growth can be stunted... it "can" be, but under pristine water conditions and a variety of food choices/supplements i believe my puffer can thrive. Have you seen this video yet? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o67sLgEE0Hc I believe this tank i...

Re: Should i get my GSP another GSP buddy?

jus85411, first of all i know what you mean, but i already have 2 filters running So are you saying that if you pee in the toilet, slap a filter on it and go to drink it we'll all think you're crazy. But by adding a second filter to that toilet bowl it becomes drinkable? Same idea :P What are you t...

Re: Should i get my GSP another GSP buddy?

Honestly, i think that the 30g rule is for when he fully matures to his 6' length-and since the GSP lifespan is about 10~11years, i believe he can thrive in my environment.

Re: Should i get my GSP another GSP buddy?

jus85411, first of all i know what you mean, but i already have 2 filters running plus 30lbs base rocks that i believe already turned into live rock since it's been there for 6 months. Also, i WANT my puffer to be aggressive. I believe he's too docile, that he doesn't do instinctual things like natu...

Should i get my GSP another GSP buddy?

My puffer is very docile, and seems to not eat things that it's suppose to such as live clams, crayfish, and fiddler crabs. I think if he were aggressive, then he might. My questions is that, if i get another GSP into my tank, would he be more aggressive and trigger something instinctual( his aggres...

Re: How do i make my gsp more agressive?

Balki is 2.5". Other than the shelled bivavles, I cut them in small pieces and feed him with tongs. I leave the shell on the shrimp . When his belly is slightly rounded, I take the food back out. He eats 6 days a week. Since he's not so afraid anymore, I make the food swim away from him so he ...

Re: How do i make my gsp more agressive?

Balki gets mussels, shrimp in the shell, squid tentacles, red wrigglers, clams, scallops, mysis shrimp. He won't eat anything with eyes. How large is your gsp, and how big of a meal do you give him? do you just drop the whole piece into the aquarium or slice em' up? If so, how small do you slices t...
