I have 4 Sap´s in a 180L, i know that it is a bit crowded... 2 saps is hiding in the back and are swiming up and down almost al the time,
i think that is because the whant to explare a larger area.. is it so???

the akvarium is very planted, mostly in the back of the tank..

is there enything i can do? exept bying a larger tank??

Sometimes SAP's just do this. If they are moving up and down the sides you could try and mask the tank sides with plants. It's worth a try.

Thanks for the quick anser!! the sides have a lots of plants, but i think i want to plant some more if that will help the SAP`s.. but you dont think i should worry???

I wouldnt worry for now, as long as they feed and are healthy they should be ok. If they are fairly new to the tank they may still be settling in to their surroundings. in time they could just stop this on their own.

SAPs are well known for their constant pacing.

howabout a powerhead? they might like the current...?

my dwarf puffer does that... when he gets scared! très wierd.

My GSP swims up and down and up and down all day long. Some times he puts so much effort into it!!! I've read many times that they do this when they're bored...but I'm quite sure Chomper is NOT bored. He seems very happy, very shiney and bright....he smiles...and zips around the tank...he has lots of places to check out.....but he goes up and down and up and down allllllllll day long. I think he actually enjoys it??? But it's frustrating to watch him do that.....

How do you know he's not bored? What's boring to him might not be boring to you.

LOL, BM! Let's see a pic of your tank so we can determine if the decor is interesting enough for him. I can ask one of my puffers.

My GSP Booty does this when someone is watching him and if I'm close watch out! Sometimes I worry he's going to flop himself out of the tank. You'd think he would like me by now, he knows I'm the one who feeds him.

Sorry, couldn't help myself. I just think of them as people I guess. What interests my husband can bore me to tears and vice versa. And I know my puffers can be very picky not only about what kind of decor they have but the placement of it. I have to keep moving things around until I get it just right for them and then, heaven forbid if I move anything!

my dp does that sometimes... it's like what he does when i'm looking and it's not feeding time or something. he actually collected a 'moustache' of algae from glass surfing a few times.

My SAP does the same thing up and down all day....But the visual of "moustache' of algae" so funny! I put in a small bubble stone next to the glass and he will play in that durring the day? maybe yours would too-you never know!

well, i went to a not-so-local FS today and i OD-ed on weed! well, seawed that is or... whatever them aquarium plants are called. I spent $20 on them... . it's dense! and the last time I checked, the poor lad(esse?) couldn't figure out where to sleep, because i took his 'bed' ( a plastik plant) out ! he's confused!

if i put in an airstone, will the tank OD on O2?
