Finally Got a Valentini!

My gilfriend gave me a $50 gift certificate from my LFS, for grooming her cat (I wouldn't let her pay me), so I bought a Valentini puffer with it (also got a cool Midas blenny for my reef tank). I've been wanting one for a while now. This fellow's little, about 2". Already exploring & picking off all the mysis shrimp living in my tank. There is probably a lot of them--nothing in there to eat them.

Ummm... I've got to do a better job of cleaning the glass 1st. I'll have more time this weekend. I hope to see him eating dead foods soon.

Hehe, take your time... I still have to clean off the glass on my 75 and take a pic or two. I think he'll start eating dead foods once the mysis shrimp are gone. If I were him I would be much more interested in the live tasty snacks all over the place over that hunk of dead meat in the corner.

Already had some yellow-tailed damsels in there. A giant Emerald crab, 3 pepermint shrimp & a bunch of hermits & snails. I was hoping they'd eat all the aptasia, before I got the puffer. Will he eat all of them? What else do they go with? I'd really like another puffer--maybe a pinkspot? Also, what about a frogfish (I killed my other one

?

I don't think the Valentini will eat the Aiptasia, I think they have a bad taste and they sting. I have had those Asterina starfish eat my aptasia, they die soon afterwards, might be a thought there, got em off of Ebay.

I think pufferpunk was referring to the peppermint shrimp eating the aiptasia.

LOL, I was talking about the peppermint shrimp eating the aptasia, before the puffer eats them.

Ive never had Peppermint shrimp with my puffers, only Redlines and Coral Banded's. But I am about to buy some Peppermints because Apitasia is going crazy in my tank too, so I guess we will both find out! The Peppermint shrimp that we get in Australia are tiny, so it will be a bit risky, but Ive heard that they hid alot and mainly come out at night when the puffers will be asleep.
As for the crabs and snails, I dont have hermits in the tank anymore, but when I did he never bothered them. Ive seen him eat small crabs without big shells that come off live rock. With the snails, he never hunts them but if they get knocked over and he is hungry then he does eat them. But we still have heaps of snails in the tank- I think they breed a lot faster than he eats them.
My puffers get along with all their tankmates, theyve never had a problem with any fish. The only problems that have arisen have been with a blue tang that was too aggressive towards the puffers! Id say to just observe his temperament and see if he is an angry puffer or a docile puffer!
Are there any corals in the tank?

I've got several leathers, some green ricordia/yuma, zoanthids, meat coral, frogspawn & a big, peach tube anemone.
