I have two "GSP's" (Tetraodon nigroviridis) that are 3 years old. I recently up graded there tank from a 40gl to a 65gl tank. My concern is one of the puffers seems to have alot of extra mucus on his body, especially along the under side. The mucus is so bad that it collects bubbles from the air stone. At least I think its mucus (slime coat), it may be some sort of fungus but I'm not sure, this has never happened before. Should I be worried? If so what can I do to help?

sg level- 1.016 -1.018

If it's swimming/eating normally & isn't growing any cottony fungus or frayed fins, I wouldn't worry. Best solution would be to add Melafix for now.

Yes "he" is eating and swimming just as normal. There does look to be a little spot on one of "his" fins that looks cottony. I don't have any Melefix on had right now. I do have a hospital tank I can set up real quick, I also have a malichite green and formalin mixture I can use among other various meds. Should I use the malichite med. or should I just wait and see if this will clear up on it's own. I just don't want anything to happen to my "babies".

Just get some Melafix tomorrow. One ot the fishy products that should always be on hand.

I agree with Pufferpunk, I hate medicating my puffers unless absolutely necessary. Melafix and clean water clears up just about anything if you catch it early (other than parasites, but this sounds like an injury or fungus).
