hi everyone
i ve been keeping a fahaka whos now a happy 14inches and i ve got the puffer bug!
ive recently bought a ceylon puffer for my boyfriend (the LFS is keeping it until the tank is set up and cycled) and we're both a bit confused as to what is the best substrate to use? i did read the article on starting BW tanks but just wanted to check..........
also ......do i have to change the substrate as the tank goes from BW to marine?

one last question!......would it be possible to keep the ceylon (whos 2") with a GSP? the tank is only small 160l (uk) but we will get a larger one when we can afford it!

For substrate, crushed coral or aragontie sand is the best. It helps buffer the pH. You do not need to change it when going to marine conditions. Be sure to use marine salt and not aquarium salt!In our tanks we use course grain aragonite.

How big is the GSP? You will need to upgrade if you want to keep them together, and the sooner the better.

Ceylon and GSP are similarly enough sized and in needs that they can be mixed if both puffers will actually tolerate other fish at all.

hey the GSP is 1.5" and ceylon is 2" at the moment........

i ve got marine salt so thats all good.....
i know its pot luck if they tolerate eachother....if they dont then they ll have to be separated! thanks for the advice for the substrate......

ill post some pics when its all set up!
