Hello!

Has anyone kept 2 Fahakas side by side in two separate tanks or in one huge tank with a divider?

Or will they try to go after each other?

Only because I have just obtained a second 10" fahaka, my first one is about 12-13" now.

Here is a story about using one tank with a divider http://www.thepufferforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=151 I would keep them in separate tanks, maybe get matching tanks, build matching custom stands with hoods and do a cute bookend kinda look for the living room... sadly I could see myself excitedly prattling out a scheme like this to my poor husband while his eyes glaze over

It would have to be a VERY large tank and a VERY sturdy divider. I have an egg crate divider currently in my fahaka tank with my palembang in 1/3rd of the tank and the fahaka in the other 2/3rds, but as large and strong as fahakas get, I wouldn't chance it myself with anything except a huge tank and a very securely attached (siliconed or attached somehow) divider. As my fahaka grows, however, the palembang will be moved to another tank.

Forget the divider. Get seperate tanks. They aren't together now, are they?

Yes they are! the tank is custom made where the divider is as thick as the tank glass and siliconed on both sides on both ends. Tank is 72"L X 24"W X 30"H.

The smaller one keeps flairing its teeth while the other keeps rubbing its cheek and belly against the divider. The belly is very big and round, bigger then usual. And I have not fed her in a day or two. I think I might have a breed able Female.

Yes! I have read this several times. And I have taken several precautionary measures.

1. I have replaced the glass lids with thick acrylic ones.
2. On top of that a reptile wired top.
3. Heaters are enclosed in acrylic tube, siliconed to the tank.

Be very careful of the reptile top, it very likely will rust.

I think with the current size of your Fahakas that tank is a little small for 2 even with the divider. If the tank was 8ft long I think it could work very well. Just thinking bioload and a swimming length of 3ft each. Doesnt seem enough to me.

It might also be a good idea to have an opaque divider, so they don't stress each other out.

Well as for the tank, I am in the work to get one stretching close to 9' long and 3' wide and maybe 30" high. It is going to cost a fortune but I am working out a payment plan or even take out a loan.
My wife is going to feed me to my Puffers.
Or send me to a loony bin.

That sounds like a great tank for the two Fahakas. Best of luck with the tank and explaining it to your wife!
