Found this and wondered if he was one as he's not a typical Muirus turd brown or bright red/orange.

hmm, thats hard to say, If they can get full profile shot it would be easier to see the difference in the lines of the jaw. Markings wise it could be a duboisi but then as you say could be a colour variant of a murius. I now have splinters from sitting on the fence

It's a miurus. They can be grey. Compare with the aqualog, there are probably grey ones illustrated, too. The duboisi is quite different.

So does that mean that the pale Miurus that manutius saw in a LFS with a load of other Miurus could have been just that and not the Duboisi.

all pictures/drawings available of duboisi show clear spots making a somewhat honeycomb like pattern. miurus however seems to occur with a wide range of mottled coloration from grey to brown to red to black. Some have some spots, but never many and never in a honeycomb like pattern.

They are all Miurus, both the PFK and the one's manutius saw in the shop.

My mistake. Not really a big miurus fan but I quite like this lighter colour morph of them.

I love these fish, I think they are great

I love mine too, he is a real character and is a sandy colour most of the time , very similar to the one in the pic. He can change his colour from a very pale sandy colour to speckly or stripey, its fascinating to watch him
