amongst the dying and diseased GSPs in the Walmart tank, I spotted a tiny, almost translucent fish with big dark eyes. I asked the attendant if he knew what it was and of course he had no clue...he speculated it could be a guppy. I thought with the big eyes it might be a gsp fry and almost bought but worried that it might infect my tank. any idea what they look like?

You should never buy anything and put it in your main display tanks without quarantining it for at least 4-6 weeks. Doesn't matter what kind of critter it is, it should be quarantined or you risk losing everything else in your tank.

Sounds like it was a livebearer fry of somesort. Probably made its way through the filtration system. Wouldn't have lasted at all if the Puffers had been healthy.
