could anyone tell me how often i should feed my fahaka and what wouldbe the best thing for him ?

i have tried look at the info in the pufferpedia but the link to feeding and diet doesn't seem to work

at the moment he is eating cockles mussels and prawns but he always seems hungry is this normal ?

i have been opening the cockles up for him but last night i put one in with the shell closed and he seemed to have got it stuck in his teeth so i left him about 5 mins to see if he was just holding it in his mouth and he had started to breath heavy so i got my net and pulled it out he didn't try to get away he just let me do it does this seem strange ? has anyone else had this with their puffers ?

crack them for him if he can't hold them well enough, you can kinda crush them without doing all the work, making him chew a bit. Most young puffers always seem hungry, as long as his stomache does not get small again only a tiny bit after eating he is fine, quickly emptying out, or stingy poo, might mean IPs. Young ones can eat daily, but larger only need food every other day, and really big ones, a couple times a week.

Mine is 5" and is fed every day. If he was a lurker type, I'd feed him less often but because he's a pretty active puffer, he eats daily.

Feeders are not suitable for fahakas. The diet link is fixed now and offers a great variety for their diet.

At that size I would feed twice a week only.

If the stomach is not sunken then I would leave him be.

How often is he fed now?

i have only had him 2 days and gave him 2 small cockles the first day which he ate and then yesterday i gave him 2 praws and 2 cockles which he ate too

so should i leave it a couple of days before i give him anymore ?

Feed enough so that his stomach is slightly rounded but not real bulgy. Feed that amount a couple of times a week.
