after treating my puffer with ich. salt and heat treatment.

now his tail is frayed and a little black, no white though. is this a type of fin rot?

his little blackened tail all started when a larger male nipped his tail.

hes in a very very planted tank with irrubescos. ph is 6.6
nitrates 5ppm
nitrite and ammonia is 0

fully cycled

if i can confirm its fin rot ill treat them with paraguard and salt.

I'd just treat with Melafix and Pimafix. Have had good success with them rather than using other harsher chemicals.

It is common for a secondary infection to set in after an ich infestation. I agree with Boxermom's recommendations. Good luck!

How big is the tank? Can he get away from the offending male?
