Suitable puffers for 10g?

I'm trying to find suitable puffers for my 10g. (I might be able to get a 20g, I'm not sure.) I have some ideas, and I wanted to ask your opinion.

F8 - I'd really like a figure 8 puffer! Could I squeeze two into my 10g? 20g? Also, I've never had a brackish or marine tank before. I have limited experience in fresh. Is this still suitable for my level?

SAP - I love these, too. But I think I'd really need a 20g for him. Could I get one of these and a couple dwarfs in a 20g?

c. Irrubesco - If I was sure I could get ahold of them, I'd definitely get a pair! However, I've never seen one for sale before, and all of my LFS's don't accept orders. Anyone have suggestions?

Fig 8's 1 per 10gal.
SAP I wouldn't mix dwarfs with one.
You could also get 4 dwarfs for a ten, or 8 for a 20.

You'd be ok going brackish with an F8, as you don't have to go too high, but I'd stick with the 10G per F8 rule. If you decide to get two for a 20G, make sure you've got an evacuation tank ready to go at any time, in case they kick off.

Pretty much agree w/Pami, but if you do try two F-8s in a 20, it should be a 20-long. The extra 6" in footprint maximum dimension really matters. But IMHO, a 15 is better for one F-8 as permanent home, the 10 is the minimum, not the optimum.

I think the same water volume is suitable for SAPs, but they are so active that you really need to work the current in small tanks. Again 10 gallons each minimum water volume, but 24-30" width is optimum for a singleton.

IMHO, SAPs and DPs are not at all compatible fish. There are major feeding issues there, plus tank setup issues. Both species are better on their own.

A heavily planted 10 is fine for a trio of DPs, one male and two females if you want breeding. A trio of either sex is fine if cohoused from fry stage.
