Knight goby w/exopthalmia... QT?

2 Figure 8's, 2 knight gobies
Ammonia: 0
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: ~ 20ppm
Ph: 8.2
I noticed recently that one of my knight gobies has exopthalmia of one eye. It is severely bulging (looks like it is going to pop), the eye itself pointing upward with an apparent dark mass growing behind it, looks as though it may have a little blood in it as well. He appears to be blind out of it.
It's difficult to get a good look at it/picture because my tank has a lot of hiding, and the gobies hide pretty much 24/7.
The goby is acting normally, eating and hiding when he sees me. Coloration and temerament seems normal (he is still actively territorial and VERY fast).
Basically, he doesn't seem sick, just has a damaged eye.
I was gone for 2 days last weekend and noticed it when I came back (Monday evening). I performed a 25% water change immediately.
I know that there are various causes of such a condition, but wanted to get some opinions, both on what it could be, and what I should do about it.
The day before I left, I startled them pretty good by shifting the blinds near their tank at night, and I could hear several of them spazzing out, so him having physically damaging it is a possibility.
I'm concerned for the goby, and terrified that it will spread to others in the tank.
My predicament is this: I am at school and have no means for suitable QT, and I need to head home this weekend for several days again in order to set up the tank at home to bring all the fish home next week.
I'm afraid to leave the tank unsupervised with a sick fish, in case any other fish become affected or if the goby passes.
I could bring the goby home with me this weekend where I have a suitable QT tank, but it's not set up at all, ie. I would have to have him in a container while getting the tank running, the temperature and salinity right, etc. while he is already possibly immuno-compromised.
What should I do? Leave him in the tank at school and hope for the best, as it doesn't seem very serious at the moment? Or should I risk taking him home and QT'ing him, making him deal with the extra stress of travelling and being in a container for at least several hours, when it may well just be a physical injury?
