Hi have got a spare 65 litre tank with external Ehiem 2236 filter!!

Have had a fig 8 puffer while back and loved him looking for another puffer or puffers has anyone got any stocking suggestions?

Would even consider brackish and marine puffers although probably to small for the latter?

I had to look up the conversion to gallons (oh how all of my european friends would make fun of me) but that equates to 14.7563 gallons. You do not have many options besides 1 figure 8 puffer (I assume with a tank taht size you aren't interested in 3 dward puffers). I just went through this process myself deciding which puffer to get. I bought a 24 gallon nanocube with puffers in mind and found that figure 8's suited me the most. I know brackish (sg. 1005) is a pain but you might be able to get away with one figure 8 and a molly. The other more experienced guys on here might be able to adise you better but I would say that a figure 8 would be awesome.

1 Fangs Puffer or 1 SAP or 3 DP's, there's some freshwater ideas for you. Possible a pair of redeyes depending on temprament.

You roughly have 14UK/17US gallons to play with. Bear in mind that the recommendations in the pufferpedia are US Gallons.

Went to a local Shop today found some F8s, been kept in fresh water am tempted to save one of them and bring him back to brackish!!

Am I right in thinking keeping F8's in fresh stunts them?


But think I will just do bit more thinking!!??

I wouldn't say it stunts them, they just seem more susceptible to illness when not kept in lightly brackish water shortening there lifespan.

ok just wondered as worried if they are in fresh now they would end up been stunted!!

Nah, they'll be fine, just get them to brackish reasonably soon
