one of my BBGs has a piece of frozen krill stuck in his mouth -- he normally takes the lager pieces and runs around the tank with him chewing and spitting out until it is a manageable, swallow-able size --- but not this time

is there anything i can do ???

check out how is mouth is permanently open (been this way for 18 hours)

I would think you could make up some clove oil to put him out (as described for puffer dentistry needs) and pull it out carefully with some tweezers?

Or just catch him & pull it out. Was it defrosted 1st?

yes, it was defrosted first in tank water --

ive never tried to hold a fish down before and yank something out of its mouth --- (scared to death)

how should i weight the risk of crushing him with my huge human fingers, versus waiting to see if it will work itself out ???

Please do not double post--it's confusing to have 2 threads on the same thing. I deleted the other one.

I think the fish will be fine. How is it acting?

he is acting fine, very active -- still a total bully to everyone else (even the baby fig 8) -- he is by far the most aggressive and still sits on his throne as the king of the tank -- i think ill give it another day or so and if its not out in the morning, do some oral surgery - thanks!

yeah , sorry about the double post, i know its a "no no", i just thought maybe the brackish folks that have kept these guys might not check the hospital section much -- wont happen again

Thanks for the help everyone-

good news is, he has finally swallowed the thing and can now close his mouth -- it only took 24 hours - ha! --

it looked touch and go there for a while, but he always maintained his spirits, continuing to chase everyone around

im really glad i didnt have to risk oral surgery or clove oil sedation -- it all scares me a little too much

thanks again, MIKE

These are the strangest little fish. Mine never seems to like anything as much as frozen krill... the one food he cannot fit in his mouth! He must be eating something since he's been in my tank for a year, but I figured this krill obsession was unique to my goby. I'm glad it worked out of his mouth! Silly fish :P
