So, I just found out that my hubby is getting his nuke bonus (navy) in September of this year. (12,500) so I have been given permission to bring home (and start looking into getting a custom tank built for) our newest addition--- a baby MBU! I dished out 170 for the little guy, and he is so small, only about 4 inches I would say. They had him in a 6 inch wide cubicle with no cover, and he looked o sad. So I was looking online at different places, but I would like to get one that is about 6x3x3. I want to make sure it is good quality and worth the large chunk of change I will be spending on it. Has anyone here ever had one custom built? I know some of you have built your own, but I am not so sure about that.... My luck it would bust all over the floor. In exchange for this bigger tank, I am going to get rid of my two ten gallon tanks and probably my 29 (good for my target, Mr Pishy, as he will then move in to his cozy new 46 bow) ( and I might have to get rid of the couch, the bed, etc...) lol Right now my little friend is buzzing around in the 46 bow I got a few weeks ago (cycled with biospira) with one anglefish friend and a pleco. He is eating well and his personality is HUGE! WE have not come up with a name for our little guy yet, perhaps you guys can help us out. I am going to try to get some pictures of him soon. I am really anxious to get this guy into a big tank and give him lots of room to explore. The biggest issue I think I might have is moving the little (for now) guy over the next few years, but I guess an Xtra large rubbermaid tub will be the answer.

Congrats on the purchase. I've got 2 custom tanks currently running, ask about warranty on the seals and ensure they test fill it. Also i'm assuming they will deliver it cos it will weigh a lot, you night pay a bit more for them to deliver but at least they cant say you damaged it in transit.

Congrats on the Mbu! You may want to consider something w/ built in overflows and a high growth plant refugium underneath.

Are you from Charleston, S.C. ? I saw your alias name on the Tideline Aquatics website and was thinking that there can't be two people with that same name.

I used to be. My husband was stationed there when we first got married, I have now been in State College, PA for the last two years. I am definitely missing Charleston and all the guys at Tideline, there is not one good fish store in my area. I drove over two hours to get the little MBU. (I was originally hunting for a fahaka, but none to be found) and the people are not up to date on their info there either. Tideline was where the puffer craze started for me, those are my first two puffers one that site.

Yay cool . You could call him Clooney2 I can't wait to see the pics. I would look to see if you can get the tank built at your house in situe, there are a few companies in UK that do it so maybe try that idea

Whatever you do, I would suggest using glass. My experience is that Puffers tend to bite the walls of the tank and acrylic will get scratched up pretty badly.

hmmm. That is a good point. My little guys rubs his lips on the glass all the time.

I think that well worth considering. When Clooney gets excited at dinner time you can hear him whacking his teeth on the glass :S I would not doubt that a large Mbu could easily damage the acrylic
