dots on a fahaka!!

hi everyone
i ve got a fahaka 13" in a fully cycled tank 350gallons (uk)
ammonia 0
nitrate 0
nitrite 0
ph 7.1
he is really happy and swimming around but on his right fin i ve noticed some round light brown spots. they are no where else on him and dont seem to affect him but i think there getting bigger/more. but seeing him everyday so i cant be sure....
please help if something is up i dont want to leave it to late to treat...!

hey
i dont have a camera and i ve tried on my phone but it doesnt come out at all
the spots are perfectly round and are splattered on the part of his fin closest to his body....and the tip of his fin is not affected
i really dont have a clue!!

How big are they? Are you sure they are brown?

they are about a 1mm across and some are a pale brown and some are white but they are transparent.....

i ve got pics of bruce but i really dont think you can see the dots? maybe its nothing to worry about at all? just weird its on one fin!

Is it possible that they are damaged fin rays? When I first got mine, he had what I thought might be ich but wasn't the right color. Turned out just to be ray damage that healed by itself.

humm im really stumped on this one...all his fins are perfect do you think i should treat with melafix anyway?
i dont really want to put anything in tank as melafix causes him to pant...

Most likely previous damage to fin rays that have healed, they can leave little dots like that on them. Just keep an eye on them make sure they don't move, change shape, multiply etc...
If you do decide to treat with Melafix in the future, adding an airstone to increase aeration is always a good idea while carrying out treatment.

After one of my puffers had ich, some little spots stayed on his fins and are still there. They don't grow or multiply at all though.

Bruce looks cool BTW but I wouldn't be too alarmed at this stage. I agree with Boxer and Hilly that it is probably some scarring due to damage. Keep an eye on it though naturally and if it worsens let us know
Any chance of a tank shot? I must say that he looks very healthy otherwise too

hey thanks for all you input ill keep an eye on them........i ve had him 4 months and they have only appeared in the last 4-5 weeks?..
ill try and get a tank shot but its taken on my phone so doesnt always come out well...
heres another one tho...
i ve got a new tank for him trigon 350, im just waiting for it to cycle, cant wait tou cause he ll love it!!

I thought you said you had him in a 350 Gallon tank?
Then you say you are getting a Trigon 350, this is 350 Litres....thats only about 77 Imperial Gallons. You will need something larger than that for a fully grown Fahaka
