Timid SAP?

I purchased my second SAP on the weekend. My first unfortunately died last year from ich. The first one was very friendly right from the start and would always come up to the glass to see me whenever coming in the room. However my new little puff is the complete opposite! Whenever I walk in the room he is normally at the front of the tank but when he sees me he swims right to the back and hides behind the plants! Earlier on he actually came out to see me but then must have realised what he was doing and swam away again! Has anyone had SAPs like this before that have become tamer? I thought it may have just been something that lasted a couple of days while settling in but it's been nearly a week now!! :?

I'd say that this SAP is just a bit shy. Just give it some time and perhaps he'll get more confident. When I first bought my SAPs (I have two), they didn't pay attention to me at all! They were more focused on chasing their reflections on the glass. But as time passed by.... they stopped pacing up and down the aquarium glass and instead swam to meet me everytime I was checking in on them.

Either it's just a bit shy because it doesn't know you very well or it's part of his/her personality.

The one I've had the longest is very shy still and I've had her quite awhile now. Still runs and hides from me except, oddly, for a week or so after her teeth have been trimmed. She's more friendly at that time. My second one is much more outgoing. Like most other puffers, they have very individual personalities.
