My first puffer died some days ago ... now my other puffer "CHE" is acting weird... Just as my last puffer , he started to eat and "throw up" and with hiccups when i feed em bloodworms , then he stopped moving all around..

I found my last puffer on my Filter Tube stuck to it , and i just got home and found "CHE" stucked to the filter tube , i thought he was dead but when i tried to get him he swimmed away...with his belly all flat and weird cuz he was stuck with the belly on the tube....

I moved him to my 10G tannk with my guppys and small guppys (in the net of course so he wont eat them) and he seems fine..just watching all the guppys and trying to eat them...

WHATS WRONG lol....why was he stuck on the filter tube if he can swim just fine :S???

Usually, I think when they are stuck to filter intakes and whatnot, they are not fine.

They may be able to swim fine, but in my experiance, both puffers I had that did that turned out to be ill, and died not long after. (the third, I managed to save, when I realized what course of action to take for the problem). My GSP now never, ever does that anymore - she only did it in the throes of what I believed to be gill flukes along with internal parasites.

I don't think healthy puffers do that..I'm not sure why... laziness because they don't feel well, maybe? Dunno, but it's not a good thing, IME.

A nomal, healthy fish has no difficulty getting away from a filter intake. A fish stuck to the intake is severely weakened in some manner, most often by disease. It is a symptom, not a cause.

does your puffer have darkish gray on his belly. Does he seem to be skinny all the time even when you feed him. He might have internal parasits. When did you set up your tank and what are your water paramiters.

I dont have my water parameters right now , but hes tummy is flat , hes not eating anymore , i tried bloodworms , live artemy , small guppys , shrimp and snails , all in his tank but he wont take any...hes swimming slow , and its all thin :'( ....


If its gill flukes or internal parasites what can i do , what do you recommend me to treat him with ...i dont think hes gonna last too long like that ...

you can go to your local lfs and see what they have for internal parasites and gill flukes if not you will have to find it online. hope everything is ok. Dosnt seem you have much time. Did you do a water change. if you can get the water paramiters to me it would be alot of help. Did you just get these puffers and not know exactly what to expect from them. Was your tank cylced.

yes , the tank was cylced , i had CHICO for a month and a half and then he died , and CHE i got i him 2 weeks after CHICO ... so they been with me for little time...

My monodactylus died in that same tank i think by parasites too , no one can tell me why he died , he started to have trouble breathing...then 2 weekas later chico died , and now , a week from chicos dead che is dying , ...when the mono died i changed the water and got all my readings well so i thought water was just right...
