I was just wondering, I was looking in the PufferPedia about Ceylons and it says max size is 8". I know that tank size etc play a part in this but I was just wondering if anyone actually had a Ceylon this size or anywhere close to it? Also, how long would it take for a Ceylon to reach it's maximum size??

I've also read elsewhere that their max is 6", so kinda wondering about that too. Usually when people ask me I say 6-8", but a definite answer would be nice

Its like saying how big are humans, there isn't a true answer just an average. Same with fish too I guess, you get some bigguns, some little-uns

So, am I right in thinking that tank size requirements for Puffers are based on them growing to full size??? and in turn does this mean that IF my Puff doesn't grow to full size in my 30g tank I can keep something else with him????

Maximum size was probably come up with by samples of wild caught specimens.

Don't forget that fish are indeterminant growers, too, meaning they aren't genetically limited to any certain size like we are (mostly).
I was watching a program the other day on monster fish, and there were several examples of people catching catfish that were 3-4 TIMES the average size for their species. That's like a seeing a 2 foot GSP!

I'm pretty sure they're worms. And it ain't purdy. I think most people who get that die from infection. Probably a small percetage die from shock

I was sure it aas afish that normally attatches to the gills of a fish and lodges itself with spines and cslowly sucks blood from its host. It follows the ammonia trail which is why its advisable not to pee in rivers where they are knowwn to live, OUCH!!!!

But unless you're partial to a dip in the Amazon you're safe.

You're only gonna need a tank another foot long and trust me when he hits 6" + he'll appreciate that extra foot.

Well.....I already have a 2nd 4 foot tank that's home to my Cichlids.....if need be I guess I can swap homes in the future
