i think it all depends on the puffer. IME my valentini only nibbles at hard corals such as acropora or montipora. mine doesnt touch any polpys or soft corals, but i have heard of valentini's that have eaten every coral in a tank.

Try starting with a small frag and see how your puffer does with it.
