Okay, maybe he's not a turgidus but he's some sort of target puffer, very inactive, only really comes out of his cave to beg for food every few days.

I currently have him in a 29 gallon tank, but I don't want to use this tank when I move. It has a plastic bottom and I don't trust the seals, I've already resealed it 2x. Right now its in the basement so if it has a slow leak no big deal, but I don't want to risk it in an apartment.

So bubba has to move. The choices from my empty tanks on hand are a 20H or a 20L, which do you think would be better? I was going to use the 20L on a dual iron stand with a snail breeder 10 underneath, figure keep him and his food in the same place. But then I got to thinking I'd really like to save that 20L for my dwarf corydoras and try to breed them in it.. and he wouldn't really use the floor space anyways... but the only stand I have for the 20H is my breeding rack, and I'd rather have him in my bedroom, not the "fishroom", all together on the nice dual stand with his snail supply.

Anyone see any benefit to one or the other of the 20 gallon tanks? Or I could always just go buy a new 29 for him lol...

Is this Beetlejuice? Why do you think he's not a turgidus? I think he'd be fine in a 20H, if you really want to use the 20L for the corys. Although housed in a 20L, he certainly didn't swim much in my house.

Yes, this is Beetlejuice, and yes, I do think he's a turgidus.

Other people seem to disagree.

He never comes out and swims, ever. If he's hungry, he swims up to the glass and stares at me, then he eats and goes back to his cave. I've checked on him at all hours, he's only in his cave. So I don't think he'd actually appreciate the additional swimming room.

I'm actually leaning towards buying another 29.. man I hate this shape of tank and always end up with tons of them, go figure.

I told ya. Although a very cute puffer, found him quite boring & already had too many tanks to keep a fish I rarely saw. I needed that tank to upgrade my modestus into.

I don't find him boring, he's very cute and personable, always comes out to say hi to me. But he doesn't swim much at all, so technically I don't think the larger footprint would benefit him.

That's another reason why I'd like him in my bedroom, so when I'm on the computer or reading in bed I can talk to him. Yes, I'm weird.. but he seems to pay attention LOL.

I agree with PP the 20H should be enough. I have a turgidus that I only see about once a day, sometimes less. It doesn't matter what time of the day or night it is I rarely see him. Mine is still small, but his permanent home is going to a 20H. If I thought he'd need more room for swimming I'd get him a tank with a bigger footprint.

Well, Sean didn't comment on my puff, but the turgidus photo he posted also had an eyespot.

Then that Martin guy stated that Sean's and my puffers were fangs. I didn't see a reply from Sean.
