When i move i plan to set up a brackish puffer tank. I was wondering what every ones opinions on keeping 3-4 of them in a group would be? I am going to get a 55 gallon tank for them. And if i keep up on snail feeding is the teeth trimming going to be a problem?

Thanks
Caleb

I think 3-4 in a tank that size is workable...
If there are plenty of hiding spaces, and broken lines of sight...aggression should be kept to a minimum. It will still be dependant on the individual's temperment...and feeding could be dicey at times...the more aggressive ones will steal from the meeker ones..if given a chance.

On the mechanical side..just ensure your tank is over filtered, the extra flow will help keep them from being bored, and the extra surface area in the media will help with the bio load

As for teeth trimming...regular snails and other crunchy food will help...I will not say you will never have to trim teeth (you may not)...but at least F8's teeth dont grow as fast as their South American cousins

Some people say that their F8's get agressive with age, mine never have done (after five years) but if you are going to have more than one in a tank think about if you are prepaired to give them seperate tanks if the time comes that you have to.
