I was just wondering if anyone had any success keeping certain inverts with puffers, i.e. they didn't eat them.

I was wondering whether they'ld leave hermits, star fish or urchins alone?

Most SW puffer will eat urchins and stars.

Hermits have a good chance of survival.

Some puffers ingnore them all together, some eat everything.

What kind of puffer are you thinking of?

I've been able to keep hermits and snails... yes snails... with my lined puffer. He's eaten any shrimp and the one small crab I tried to keep however.

I'm just glad he leaves the snails alone... although I'm not going to bank on it when he's full grown.

Hi i have a porcupine puffer who leaves shrimps, hermits, starfish,& snails alone he even gets cleaned by the fire shrimp  The only problem ive had is he has eaten a fan worm.
How long this will last who knows puffers and upredictability go hand in hand.
You can only experiment and be prepared to take action if necessary.

Thanks for the replys.

The puffer in question is a Green Spotted Puffer so to be aclimatised to full marine. May try a couple of hermit crabs, he does seem to go for anything that moves though, if not they'll just be expensive food!
