Map Puffer Looks Sick!!

Hello all New to forum,
I've had my mappa puffer for 2 months now and he has been doing fine all this time.. just recently i went away for 4 days and my wife was home feeding our fish... over the last 2 days he has drop alot of mass.. has gotten smaller and even hi stomach is sucked in... i can't get him to eat.. and he has been laying on the bottom of the tank... i've tried garlic soak and all types of food... it is upsetting to see him like this.. what can i do?

What are your tank parameters? Did the salinity jump from where you normally have it, any ammonia, nitrite or nitrate readings? She may have overfed and the water is polluted... Check the heater, make sure it didn't fail.
How large of a tank is he in? These guys get big!

Could be intestinal protozoans or worms....
What was your wife feeding the puffer - any chance the food was spoiled or food left in tank and ingested later?

Only thing she fed him was dried seaweed while i was gone, i have him housed in a 265 Gallon Tank, With a 150 Gallon Sump, 40 Gallon Fuge, 2- 50 Watt Uv, a ETSS 1800 XR Pro Skimmer, 2-1000W Heaters....
Temp is good 78.9
ammonia 0.0
nitrite 0.0
nitrate 20 PPM
Salinity 1.026
Each feeding we soak the food in garlic and vitimans
And what ever the puffer don't eat, the other fish in the tank clean up
By looking at his breathing... he is in distress... i'm starting to perpare myself cause it doesn't like he is going to make it.....

Need to move him out to a separate tank - potential parasites affecting the gills or internal protozoans.
I would treat with hyposalinity and metronidazole.
Increase aeration in the tank.
What else were you feeding the puffer besides seaweed?

What is hyposalinity and metronidazole ? and how do i treat it? cause he's not eating.. and it doesn't look like ich... these are the medicines i have onhand, focus, Kanoplex and Metro... i'll go out and buy the other things...
Already moved him to my QT tank
all he wants to do is lay on bottom of tank

Hyposalinity will help if there are parasites in the gills - ich can attack the gills.
Lower salinities also help with oxygenation.
What is the active ingredient in your "Metro"?
