My puffers in their new home.

Hi all,
Well here they are after spending a few weeks at a local aquarium while I got the tank set up.
They seem to enjoy life in there, and love hunting the shrimp I put in for them.

How big are they?
My lfs has some F8 but they are tiny. I'd be interested in what size these are.

Beautiful!
Those are ceylons actually Smudger, they get a lot bigger than Figure 8's and are mid-brackish to full marine as they grow older.

No problem, they do look similar to figure 8's and are often mixed up with them at the store. Its those patches on the back...

I hope that what my lfs has are def F8's and not ceylons then
Not saying anymore on this thread cause I aint hijacking it lol.

They are Ceylons yes. The LFS sold them to me as Topaz which I believe is another name for them. They did tell me they were Freshwater though
hence the stay in the local public aquarium while we got another tank!
They are now in SG of 1.010 and seem to be thriving. They are about 4-5" from nose to tail at the moment.

Wow, they're getting big! Any idea how old they are?
My 2 are still around 1", but we think they're still less than 1 year olds (at most 2)

You're so lucky; if I ever found ceylons I'd snatch 'em up right away!
Your tank looks really nice with lots of little caves to hide in. Great job on the tank and enjoy the little buggers.

No idea on age. I paid £25 each for them which equates to around US$50 I guess. I have another LFS that has about 6 as well. Shame you are in the US
(They also have a Mbu at £85 but my wife would kill me if I got that!!)

Wow!!!! £25?????? I only paid £15 for mine!!!! and Mbu's were £50 in the same shop....that's quiet a big difference isn't it??? someones making a
BIG profit!!!!

Yeah, the shop I got em from was a little independant one. The Mbu is in Maidenhead Aquatics. It is about 10" long I guess. Lovely fish
They are selling Ceyons for £15 I think, maybe less even.

Wow indeed.. we had a lot of Ceylons around here earlier this year going for around $14-20 each, I can't remember exactly but I know it was under $20.
Beautiful fish, one of my favorite species.
