Hi all i intend to get a fakaha puffer and i was wondering if the tank that i am getting is sufficient.. Its a 4ft by 1.5ft by 1.5ft tank...

Just barely....

The front to back depth is 18", ideally they should be given 24" or more so they have ample turning room. Since Fahakas can grow up to or over 17", that doesn't give them a whole lot of space once full grown, but it is technically large enough.

i see.. by that it means that a 4 by 2 by 2 would be more comfortable but a 4 by 1.5 by 1.5 is just nice...... But sufficient right?

48x18x18 is nowhere near comfortable for a full grown Fahaka. It's only roughly 67 Us gallons. It might be fine for a juvenile for a while, but water quality may become an issue when he gets bigger and produces a hell of a lot more waste. Go for the 4x2x2, 120g for only 6" more base footprint, a much better space all round IMO.

Hmm yeah i agree... i want to let my future fakaha have a comfortable space to swim around.. and i got a good offer for a 422 tank... alrighty thanks for everything so a 422 tank will be comfortable for a fakaha right :P

Cheers,
Eddie

Oh crap, thanks for catching that Hilly! For some reason I was thinking it was a 100 gallon tank and just the dimentions were in question, not the gallons.

I'm sorry Anthrax, my mistake!

No worries, no harm done except to Anthrax's bank account. ;)

haha nice one.. :P my 4 by 2 by 1.5 is coming soon and boy am i excited.. :) o and for filtration i was wondering if 2 800l/hr hang over filters would be good as i do not like the idea of canisters leaking and stuff and ohfs are way too ugly..... also fora fakahas decor, it should be pretty plain right as in not much plants and stuff..

My fahaka tank is my planted tank!
Keep it interesting, that way he will spend lots of time swimming around exploring. THese fish like lots of flow, so poweheads are good.
