Hi guys I'm new to the forum I just need help identifying this little fellow. Currently about 1 inch in length. Ceylon, GSP or F8?

That is a very pretty, brightly-colored, green spotted puffer (Tetraddon nigroviridis). Check out the article on them, in our Library.

Looks like a GSP to me, however that top shot made me look twice, his banding on top of him makes him look a bit like a Ceylon.

I thought the same way Hilly.....maybe I am starting to absorb some of the knowledge I am gaining here . Ceylons are beautiful, and so is your GSP! I feel so proud of myself that I actually was able to see a pic and get the right answer....WOO-HOO....I may become puffer smart yet

I just got the little guy about a week ago,He's becoming one of my favorite fish, he's like a puppy . He's currently in a 10g QT tank by himself. I'm in the process of cycling a 33g for him with argonite sand. I've been feeding him bite size smelt, shrimp and occasionally tiny snails from my planted tank which he likes very much. I'm doing 10% water changes everyday siphoning tiny uneaten food.

The picture was taken during feeding time so his belly is big.

do I need to start the brackish now when he's this small?

It tells you all about what SG to have them in at certain sizes in the article in the library, at that size you'd only be looking at low end brackish.

You can and should start him brackish now, but make sure you do it very slowly, only a little salt at a time. If you aren't familiar with using marine salt, let us know and we can talk you through measuring it out, etc.
