I've always enjoyed the visual beauty of a saltwater tank, I've also come to enjoy watching everything in the tank reacting to a powerhead or wave machine.

I've recently added a long bubble stone to give my tank more eye candy, the Puffers seem to love swimming in the bubbles and sometimes I catch the big puffer biting at some of the bubbles. However, it's hard to hide the tubes and it looks a little cheesy. Would a powerhead in the tank give it a interesting look? Most of all, will it tire or stress the fish?

Mine seem to prefer a good bit of current.

What are you using to create your current? Your filtration system?

It varies. Some tanks have bubble wands, some have good current from the filters, some have powerheads. My baileyi puffers seem to prefer bubble wands, although I have to use the stone type with Lil as she chewed up one of the softer bendable wands.

I've noticed both of my F8's have attacked the tubes a couple times. I wish I could come up with a way to hide them.

It had been buried, I hide my wands by buring them under the substrate. She dug it up and proceeded to chomp holes in it over a short period of time. Luckily, she never ate the bits, I'd just find them floating around in the tank.

I agree with Boxermom, mine always enjoy lots of current as well.

My DPs and Modestus/Silus puffers all love current. They all seem to play and excercise in the filter ouputs quite a bit.

I'm with the folks who favor more rather than less current, but I never use airstones at all - too much noise and mess for me - strictly pumped water for me and my fish.

Second that. I run 2, sometimes 3 powerheads on my 3' tank. Seems to help with algae growth as well.

My DP's perfer more quiet waters except for a few miniuites of filter output swimming "exercise" a day, as far as I notice, and thats only Boeing, Pig seems content to dwell in the most densely grown, still water nearly all the time. Shakespeare has a cheesey offbrand HOB for a 30-50 gallon tank which makes a good bit of current, but he got MUCH happier when I added an aquaclear 50, which really moves the water a lot more. He has a bubble wand(burried under the gravel because I hate how tank acessories look) but ignores it now that the aquaclear is running. I also feel better about him being only in 30 gallons when he has two filters rated for over his tank size.
