Thought I would put this as a new topic. Thanks all for the advice on my Puff and feeding whilst on Holiday....It has given me peace of mind and I will now be able to relax whilst I am away :D

I had couple of comments concerning this on my last post but would appreciate a little more input...... whilst away for 2 weeks would you suggest I left my lights on their timer to come on as usual or turn them off completely whilst I am away?????? I thought the latter may help preserve the water quality slightly??

Look forward to hearing your views

Thanx :D

I personally would leave them on timer.

If you have someone coming round to feed them and they walk up to the tank making a bit of noise and the fish is dozing because its dark and they suddenly flick the lights on and continue to make noise it could startle the fish and who knows what could happen.

They get used to their light cycle, mine knows when the lights are going out and coming on so I leave it that way.

Ditto Hilly's comments. All of my tanks and many other lights/equipment are on timers in any case, there is no reason to change them for vacations. Consistency and stabilty do matter for captive fish.

No reason to change it's lighting schedule--no affect whatsoever on water quality.
