hey, i am wondering if anyone else out there has been told or herd that feeding chopped up pieces of prawn, shell on and vein in is as good as feeding snail, does this hold any merit?

I have a T. Fugu and he loves prawns...we have a tank set up especially for them. We grow them out a bit and he eats the larger ones. I don't cut em up- he'll eat em...that is, once he catches em.

i have started to use human grade ones, the jumbo ones with really hard chells, i cut them into like 10 pieces with the shell on and he has to really chomp through them to break the shell, i just want to know does it help wear down his teeth

it is certainly better than no crunch, but not as good as snails nor mussel shells. Whether or not it is good enough depend on the particular puffer species - the amount of wear required varies between species..

For bigger puffers I have found no better than cockles in shells.
My fahak just chomps them into tiny pieces and spits them out. He tends to 'play' with the shell.

My Mbu does that too, I think I put the video up in the flix section a while back. How many attempts does your fahake need to crack a large one Rocker?

I was told Prawns could bring in parasites- so I buy like 30 at a time and keep em isolated til they get bigger...thinkin that'll help prevent issues for Chomps...does that work or is it just workin in my head?

Its good when they catch it isn't it. Makes them live up to their dog of the aquarium stats
