My A. modestus hides in the shade under the filter during the day and then at night, he starts swimming around, are modestus nocturnal at all?

My silus are much like that, too.

Is it just because they dont like bright light?

Are there puffer shades available at the puffer store

I have two modestus puffers in a 55 gallon tank. They swim around and interact with me and my cat all day long - but when night comes I think that's when they really let loose .

My T Turgidus is the same, i stuck some blue plastic across the tank which halved the light and he seemed to be more active.

All of a sudden, my GSP is nocturnal! I have no idea why but the last week or so, he has really changed and hides all day and as soon as the lights go out, hes very active and happy. He does come out to eat during the day also.

I"ve often wondered if fish we think of as "nocturnal" might be "dawn/dusk" creatures, and would thrive best in the partial lighting situation so seldome seen in home aqaria.
