I recently got my hands on 2 of them, but it was from school. We had used them in a observational experiment in one of my classes, and the prof. agreed to let me keep a couple of them, since they were getting a little beat up by the bigger Ceylons.
From what I've gathered from my prof and lab tech., they're fairly hard to find in stores, since they're in such short supply. And even if they have it, they tend to be a bit pricey...in Canada, anyway. Although, I've heard of people buying them for $5/fish at Walmart or something, and not realizing what they're getting themselves into.
Edit: I just remembered someone telling me that they're usually a lot of confusion between another species of puffer (I think GSPs?
T. ni...something

) Maybe look for those, and you may find a Ceylon somewhere in the bunch having been misidentified?

hi there,
my lfs call them topaz puffers, so perhaps u may find them under a different name?
over here they cost approx £25 a fish.
They are often confused with figure 8 puffers due to their markings.
they are quite common over here in the uk, i see them in most stores around here.

Yeh I've seen ceylons for the same price as GSPs and Fig8's in general (around $6)... it is the non-chain pet stores (so not petsmart or petco or walmart or meijer or the like) that may have them.
I'm in Illinois though. /shrug
Often they were mislabled and/or thought to be GSPs or F8's (labled with names such as leopard puffer, figure eight puffer, spotted puffer, green puffer.. etc etc).

Over the years I've only seen them once... They weren't priced all that high but I guess they don't come in very often.
