Hi guys, I have had my young SAPs (12mm in length) in a quarantine tank for a week now at about 80 degrees F and looking out for signs of ick.

I have noticed tonight that one of the guys has an ick spot at the end of his tail, all the others are ok and he has no others.

I have read over the excellent article on treating ick and intend to treat by raising to 86 degrees over a few days and adding salt.

Does anyone have experience in treating puffers this young? I don't want to stress them out so am thinking of raising the salinity over a few days or will it really not affect them?

generally the levels of salt used to stress ich are safe for even young fish, I did it with a 1/4" long DP once with no ill effects, and they are also a totally FW puffer.
