Ive just been given a new puffer free of charge from a lfs. I think it may be either a duboisi, abei, or cochinchinensis. I'll get pics up tomorrow.

It was very active in the shop tank, and was with SAPs and fig8s also. It has no eyespot that I could see, so I think that rules out the abei and coch.? It also says duboisi acts like the miurus in the pufferpedia, lurking for fish, but it was very active. Im confused!

Does it look like the duboisi in the Pufferpedia. I think T.Cutcutia is lacking the eyespot.

The eyespot on my T.cutcutia is very faint and unnoticable most of the time.

The cutcutia in the pufferpedia seems too green. Mine is more browny like the duboisi, but the head-shape seems slightly different. The lack of eyespot may just be due to stress of the long journey but i'm not sure.

I've decided now that it may be the T. duboisi now that ive googled it, but im not sure and I'll try to get a pic tomorrow.

I've had to acclimate it to the college tapwater of hard, pH 8.2 water til friday when I can get it home so I'll have to see how he is in the morning. The only system free was a secure bit in the malawi sump! He'll be out by friday though.

The cutcutia pics in the pufferpedia dont really represent the general patterns of a cutcutia. I spoke to the owner of the fish and he said they turned that shinny green colour when they were mating.

Just got some really bad pics! It's not the duboisi I dont think as I can now see a red eyespot on the caudal peduncle. Sorry I chopped the head off in the pic!

OK thanks thats what I thought. So I guess It wont be able to be housed with my SAP and Dwarf!! Oh well an excuse for another tank!!
