Marine salt for whitespot???

I have a feeling my Puff has whitespot. I took a quick look at him before work today and he looks like he has the salt grain look on his body..I am figuring this may have a lot to do with him being under the weather lately....... He is still in FW at the moment as I am still waiting for delivery of my Refractometer.... now two questions ....can i use Marine salt to treat the whitespot and can I convert to brackish water at the same time as using it for the treatment or do I simply treat for whitespot adding 1 tblsn per 5 gallons and wait for the white spot treatment to finish and then follow the procedure for raising the salinity for BW??...a little confusing I know...I hope you under stand the question.

Are there spots on his fins too? You could just be seeing his tiny spins. I'd start getting him into BW as sooon as possible.

Yes, VERY tiny white specs on his fins....as soon as I receive my refractometer I will have him into BW

Lots of white spots on the fins or just a few, if they dont multiply or move they are probably just breaks where the fin has repaired. Can you get a pic of the spots?

I tried to get a pic but with my basic camera I can't get a clear enough shot
Anyhow, I have done a water change and added sea salt and raised the temp a little. One good thing, at least the Nitrite readings are now at 0

Looks like Ich to me. Probably best to start using aquarium salt to treat and raise the temp as per the article in the library and then when he's all better start raising it to brackish properly with marine salt.
If i'm wrong though someone else will correct me.

Yup--ich. Just start rsising the SG w/marine salt. Raise it to 1.002 now & .002 more in 3 days. I'd also add Melafix for the frayed fins & damage to the skin the parasite will cause.

If you don't have your refractometer by now I would bite the bullet and go pick up a hydrometer while you wait. They cost about $10 and will do fine until you get the refractometer in the mail.
