i just put some drops in my tank called Green X to get rid of algae that were in the tank but when i did my arrowhead just turned on his side =( like he was dying
i immediately took him out and put him in a small 2 liter tank, at first he started freakin out, swimming crazy but now he's just really still.
i swear ill burn down that tarp petstore that sold me those drops if he dies

i've been running into people at the LFS that i work at who've had tank crashes from the use of a algicide. i dont recomend them anymore instead i try to get them to break the cycle by cutting light or removing nutrients before they break down and try the chemicals. i'm not a big fan of chemicals in tanks though, i wish all products would list the active ingredients though.

PS i hope you're puffer comes around, that just sucks

Do an 80% water change & get some fresh carbon in the filter. Never use any unnessary chemicals in your tank.

Chump...just curious...what is with the avatar? With all of the violence in the media, esp. in schools the last few years it kinda freaked me out, thought maybe there might be a story behind it

I thought the main ingredient in algacides (sp?) was copper? If I recall, people have had trouble with copper meds in the past?

For alge I just use good old fasioned elbow grease......when we do a water change I just take a scrubber and scrape the front and sides of the tank so we can still see the little critter. Algea isn't *bad* just unsightly....Algea is acctually a good thing because it absorbs the extra co2 in the tank (great if you dont have live plants, we dont) and also phosphates and nitrates as well....
