I am still studying ....getting ready to set up a tank for a puffer and have read online that the skin of a Puffer is poisonous...is this true and is there any cause for concern???

Toxins are inside the body. But I would advise against licking them anyway.

If you do a bit of googling the skin does have some levels of toxicity but far less than some of the internal organs. The levels seem to vary between different species.

Also; pufferfish loose their toxin in captivity.
I would advice strongly against handling puffers as they are scaleless fish and could be hurt.
