Hello,
This might sound crazy but I think my gsp only has one gill or only one that is working. One of his or her gills is moving constantly but you cant even see the other one at all. After a close look you cant even tell there is a gill on the other side (no gill opening that can be seen). Is this possible, my gsp is only about 2 inches.
Thanks Nate

Our GSP only has one gill too. If you sit and think about the water quality they come from (Estuaries in India) You'd realize they aren't the cleanest places on the planet, therefore mutations are common.

Okay so I am not imagining this then. I wounder how it effects their ability to to breath.

When recovering from some gill issue, my F8 will clamp his gill, making it look "Sealed" off, but you can kinda see the gill opening.

My puff has no problem breathing. I assume it might cut down on his life span a little because one gill is doing twice the work...
I figure since we have two of air stones in the tank, and a bubble curtain it's all good for his oxygen requirements. We also are getting a nice algea bloom on the back of the tank that will be contributing to the oxygen levels
Just make sure your puff is in the proper sized tank and has lots of bubbles/plants to play in to make more oxygen.

Sometimes, if it has 2 gills & is only using one, it can be a sign of gill flukes.

Yes the other night I noticed it was using both of its gills so all this time it must have only been using the one or i did not see it. I have only had my gsp for about 3 weeks.
