moving fish from one tank to another

I just read the thread about chubby getting a new home, and I think when I change out my tank from 15 gallon to 25 gallon I am going to do the same thing...use all the gravel from the 15 gallon, alot of the water etc...
Is this a good thing to do?

I just move everything over--gravel, decor, filters, etc. You can change stuff around (decor & filtration in a month). You can upgrade the filtration but leave the old one on there.

Even if the filter isnt the right size?

Yea I would leave the old one and get another the appropriate size.

If it will fit on the larger tank, move it to the tank & run it along w/the larger filter for 4-6 weeks, till the larger filter gets established bacteria in it.
Or... start fresh w/Bio-Spira.
