I finally got some half decent pictures of my new puffer. I'm still not 100% what it is, although I'm leaning towards T. Cutcutia according to pictures in Dr. Eberts book. What you can't see from the pictures is that the end of his caudal fin has a red band and his eye spot kind of comes and goes, it has a ring of light coloured spots around a circle of darker spots. What do you guys think? Sorry, I should have cleaned the glass.

I would say cutcutia. Very slight red tip to the tail, and lack of red target are what convince me.

The mottled, marbled skin pattern also resembles the cutcutia.

Yea thats what I figured it was. Are they part of the target puffer family?

It says they are quite common, hence the name common puffer. I've never seen one before, are they actually that common?

Not in the aquarium business.
I have only seen one for sale in my early years as a puffaholic.
(Bought it, killed it...)

They turn up here fairly regularily.
