Bad News and Good News

Bad News.
My last dwarf puffer died a few weeks back. I think he was sleeping and got sucked into the filter intake. I found him in the morning all puffed and dead.
It was very hard, we got through the IPs and things were going really well. I pretty much gave up on Puffs and even stopped visiting my favourite site.
Good News
I was surfing a local aquarium selling forum and someone was getting rid of two F8s. I couldn't help myself, I sent him a PM for more info.
"They are about 2.5". I have had them for about a year. I started out at half and half and then slowly acclimatized them to 100% fresh water. I have them in a 12g eclipse. I feed them mostly flakes and throw in a shrimp now and then."
I made the 20Km ride and picked them and had them home in an hour.
I was shocked they are the biggest, prettiest and healthiest F8 puffers I have ever seen, great colours, snow white tummies and fat as hell. It sounds scary but this guy had been doing something right.
Currently I have them separated in their own 10g tanks, full fresh water. I had two tanks set up for African Cichlid fry so they are cycled, overfiltered and rock solid Ph of 8.
I am setting up a 65g for them in two weeks as I am moving at the end of October. I have an AC500 cycling in one of my cichlid tanks and I'll move gravel and such. I use calcium carbonate rocks for decor all of my hard water tanks so they are well buffered.
I am planning on a slow climb to brackish water in the 65g.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
