Just wondering what type of diet we should feed him on.

Previously we had an Abei and fed him a couple of snails every 3 days and that kept him going fine. I think what killed him was when we went on holiday for two weeks the tank was neglected by the people we left to look after the place.

Im just wondering if anybody has a specific plan to follow on feeding palem's. Obviously his beek needs to be kept in good order so im just wondering if you can give me a feeding plan for him.

Been thinking about putting some Java plant into the tank aswell to provide more cover?

Mine has a staple of shell-on human grade shrimp from the grocery store, with snails every 3 days or so. They, like most puffers, like a LOT of cover and really appreciate having a cave-type structure to hide in. Mine lurks pretty much all day but at night he's very active and has eaten every single tankmate except a couple of nerite snails.

My palembang's diet is live Ghost shrimp, frozen/thawed silversides, or presoaked large FD krill and any home-bred fish fry he can catch (there are alwasy a few in the tank). He strongly prefers the live Ghost shrimp.

The fish shows hunger by activity level. If satiated, he stays in one of the two bogwood overhangs/caves provided. If resting on the substrate outside the caves or elsewhere in the tank, the fish is ready to eat again.

Feeding intervals are every 2-5 days, depending on the size of the prior meal and whether or not any tankmates have been captured and eaten between feedings.

All my palembangs now get fed twice weekly. Krill, mussel, prawn and shell on king prawn. Occasional earthworm.
